  • August 2025

Important Back to School Meeting for Grade 8 Parents

    Dear 8th Grade Parents:

It is great to be back in the swing of things. Please be aware that there will be a meeting for 8th grade parents on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room 125.

A representative from the AWARE (Adolescents with Awareness, Resources, and Education) Program will provide a parent presentation to compliment the AWARE Health Curriculum that Illinois mandates for all grade 8 students. AWARE is a comprehensive prevention program designed to provide eighth grade students with the information and resources that they need to face tough relationship issues. The AWARE program is comprised of three collaborative agencies: Teen Parent Connection, Robert Crown Center for Health Education, and YWCA West Suburban Center. Student workshop topics include teen pregnancy prevention and healthy decision making (Teen Parent Connection), sexually transmitted infection prevention (Robert Crown Center), and dating violence and sexual assault prevention (YWCA).

Please consider joining us for this presentation. If you would like more information about Teen Parent Connection or the AWARE program, please visit their website at: http://www.teenparentconnection.org/parents. If you still have additional questions, please contact Mrs. Marcinkewicz.

Please be advised as this is your advance notice to parents. If you would not like your child to participate, s/he shall not be required to do so if the parent/guardian submits written objection to Principal Marcinkewicz.

The tentative dates for the AWARE program will coincide with our half-day programs. These dates planned are September 12 (Sexually Transmitted Infection Prevention), October 10 (Teen Pregnancy Prevention), October 31 (Dating Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention) and December 19 (Healthy Decision Making).

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or clarifications you may need. We are always here to help. I am looking forward to a fantastic school year.

    Fondly,
    Mrs. Christine Marcinkewicz
    Principal
