Cass Junior High Halloween Dance

  • Dear Cass Junior High Parents:

We are extremely excited to host our first dance of the year at Cass Junior High! As such, we thought a refresher on dance procedures and expectations would be helpful as this experience will be brand new to many of our students.

Our Halloween Dance is open to all 5th through 8th graders on Wednesday, October 30 from 3:30 – 5:00. Because students have traditionally worn costumes to the dance, we will allow costumes during the school day on Wednesday, October 30. It is our expectation that learning continue on this date. If costumes are a distraction which we cannot overcome, we will readjust for next year. I am confident that our students can enjoy the spirit of the season, while still focusing on academics during the school day. Costumes may not be worn on Tuesday, October 31. Please review these guidelines for our festivities on October 30, 2024.

Your student has the option of wearing a costume. This is STRICTLY VOLUNTARY.

    • Costumes should be appropriate for the school setting and not suggestive of violence, inappropriate characters or suggestive topics. This is at my discretion.
    • Please keep in mind that your child will be in costume for the entire day, so consider comfort levels as well as safety. The costume should not be cumbersome, revealing or restrictive in physical movement.
    • NO ACCESSORIES will be allowed. Wands, sticks, swords or the like can be a source of potential injury or distraction. If your child brings any accessory to school, it will be taken and given back after the dance.
    • For the purpose of building security, hygiene, and identity, NO Halloween masks will be allowed. Hair color and makeup are allowed but MUST be applied at home.
    • If your student chooses to attend the dance, he/she must remain in the building and must report to the dance by 3:40. All students must stay until 5:00 pm and may not be picked up early. If your child cannot stay at the dance for the duration, they should not attend. Please arrange for your student to be picked up promptly at 5:00 pm. Students are not allowed to walk anywhere.

Please understand that the restrictions support our pledge to maintain an orderly, safe, and secure learning environment. Please remind your student that we want everyone to have fun, but that it is a school day and behavioral expectations continue to be in effect.

As always, please accept my sincere thanks for your continued understanding, cooperation, and support of our learning community.

    Fondly,
    Mrs. Marcinkewicz, Principal
