We want to make certain that parents are aware that school lunches are no longer automatically free for the 2022-23 school year. While lunches were free the previous two school years during the pandemic, that is not the case and the district will need to return to charging for lunches. Lunch fees for the 2022-23 school year are $3.50. For parents who need assistance, the fee waiver and free and reduced lunch applications are available. If you have not been notified through mail that your family has been direct certified but you feel you would qualify for free fees or lunches, please be sure to complete these applications as soon as possible and return them to the District office. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Underhill at aunderhill@cassd63.org.

Our traditional Parent-Student Orientation Day is Friday, August 19! The Orientation Day Schedule truly helps with managing the flow of traffic and people, so we appreciate your cooperation with that as much as possible. Please also note that the schools and offices will be closed between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on that day. Concord Elementary parents will receive an email from their child’s teacher with details and links to the information needed. Our junior high students have a number of teachers, so all information will be provided on site the day of orientation at Cass Junior High. Please keep in mind that outstanding fees are required to be paid prior to receiving your child’s teacher assignments or schedule.

Cass 63 is implementing a new academic grading system that goes into effect with the opening of the 2022-23 school year. We developed a unique system that maintains the strengths of standards-based grading, provides clarity about how our students are performing and facilitates a smoother transition to high school. This system will ensure consistent expectations within every subject from 2nd through 8th grade. Detailed information is available here and under each icon and performance category is a standards-based descriptor of your child’s progress. As always, we will support our students and parents at every step of the way with any questions as the new system is implemented.
